Arrival/Departure – Clark County School District does not provide for student supervision on elementary school playgrounds before and after school, so it is recommended students arrive at school as close to 8:47 am as possible. If it is necessary for a student to stay after school, parents will be notified. (Remember: the tardy bell rings at 9:00 am)
Attendance – Punctual and regular attendance is very important to school success. If your child will be absent, please call the office (799-3700) on the morning of your child’s absence between 8:15 and 9:15 am. When your child returns to school, please send a note signed by a parent explaining the absence.
- The principal of the school is required to report the pupils who are habitually truant to law enforcement.
- A habitual truant is defined as a “student who has three unapproved or unexcused absences within one school year.”
- If a pupil is absent due to physical or mental reasons, the parent must notify the school within two days of the absence.
- Provides the court authority to order the parent to pay a fine of $100.00 or more for the habitual truancy. The court can order the suspension of driver license privileges of students 14 years of age or older for truancy.
Tardiness – Being on time for school is a positive way to start the day. If a student is late, they are to report to the office to pick up their tardy slip.
